This is an entry-level unit standard for people to demonstrate a basic understanding of selecting, using and caring for the correct type of engineering hand tools. 

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the selection of different types of hand tools; select and use engineering hand tools to meet task requirements; and care for engineering hand tools. 

Engineering hand tools applicable to this unit standard fall within the following categories:

 Cutting tools: examples – hacksaws, chisels, files, hole punches, tin snips. 

Assembly tools: examples – hammers, punches, vices, clamps, spanners, wrenches (including impact and torque), pliers.

My evidence to support my assessment booklet 

Cutting tools.

	Hack saw  In this photo I am using a 32 tpi hacksaw to cut my bar that is 410mm long 16mm wide and has a thickness of 4mm.
	Metal file  Here I am using a flat file to square my bar that is 410mm long 16mm wide and thickness of 4mm.
	Tin snips I am using tin snipes to cut sheet metal that is 110mm wide 65mm long and 1.5mm thick.

Assembly tools 

	Spanner or wrench I was tightening the nut on the mil for my work
	Hammer Here I am using a hammer and a centre punch to mark where I am going to drill an 8mm hole so I can place a bolt into it.
	Gripping tools I am using a clamp to hold my work together to wield to create a frame for my project.

What have I learnt?

I learnt how to use a range of hand tools during the year since this is my first year in engineering. I have gained a bunch of experience around tools, what they do, and how to use them.

What was the most difficult tool to use and why?

I think the file was one of the most difficult to use just because it was very time consuming and you had to try to make everything as square as possible.

What did I enjoy?

I enjoyed wielding the frame because it was satisfying watching it come together.

What would I do differently next time?

Faster production definitely so I can meet the deadline and start another project.

RE: Use of Bins

Hello Jenny,

I am writing this review to inform you about the behaviour of the staff and their use of the bins.

• The food bin is not empty often which leaves a bad odour and mould growth
• They think it is a waste of time putting the bins out
• They often forget what bin to place their items in

Those are the mains points of what the current situation is but other than that the system is going well.

2. What is significant about this setting? Walt took part in the Korean war and had made an effort to civilise with Koreans. Walt had also made an effort to help change the youth.
3. What do you think is Walt’s motivation for mentoring Tao? - to make him a man and not a criminal 
4. How does Walt feel about Sue compared to her brother Tao, in the beginning? Why do you think he feels this way? Walt thinks that tao is slow and sue is all right kid

8. What is the purpose of the priest character? How would the film be different if this character was not included in the story? - to be a dick and explain walt's relationship with his wife
9. How is Walt affected by his experiences by his experience at war? - He had killed a Korean boy that had surrendered to him during the war and that affected him during the rest of his lifetime because he killed an innocent citizen
10. What do you think is the director’s view of gang culture? How do you know? He finds that violence does not solve every problem but resorts to violence to show a true understanding of life and death. He wanted to show that that being violent is not the answer, therefore, he had made it so Walt sacrifices himself to end the violence that was brought to the Hmong people.
11. Why do you think the film is called Gran Torino? What is the significance of the title? - The Gran Torino is the car that Walt owns and gives to tao when he dies.
12. What is the role of religion in this film? Christianity because Walt offers his life to lose his sins in order to suppress the violence in his neighbourhood. His wife used to take him to church and he believed it would’ve been good if he did what his wife asked.

2019 Home Economics Level 1

Chicken chow mein

Small cabbage wedge

1 c of vegetables ( courgette, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, mushrooms)

1 carrot

1 small onion

1 chicken breast – shredded

1pkt instant noodles

1T cornflour

½t chicken stock powder

1T soy sauce

½ C water

Method

1. Make Sauce: in a small bowl stir together the cornflour, chicken stock powder, soy sauce, flavour sachet from instant noodles and water and leave to the side.
2. Wash and prepare the vegetables
1. Chop the onion
2. Cut the carrots into thick sticks
3. Break the cauliflower and broccoli into florets
4. Shred the cabbage
5. Slice Mushrooms/capsicums/courgettes
3. Cook then shred the cooked chicken with two forks
4. Heat oil in frypan or wok
5. Cook the onion for 2-3 minutes. Add the carrots and cook a further 2mins, then add the remaining vegetables and stir-fry for another 2min.
6. Add the shredded chicken, instant noodles and sauce and stir to combine.
7. Stir in another cup of hot water. Heat through until hot
8. Serve immediately

Personal Safety:

Wash my hands before and after touching raw meats during the practical.

Communicating with the team a lot more if food is burning.

Food Safety:

Making sure the food is cooked to the right temperature.

Checking if the food is cooked round the right temperature.

Trying samples of the food to see if the food is tasting right.

Digital World Reflection Blog

In the past 5 weeks in digital world we have been learning how to make a augmented reality sandbox. We have been researching how to make a layout for the sandbox and there are 3 groups working on projects in each group there are people assigned to different tasks. The digital group researches about the things you need to run a program to create the augmented reality sandbox. The program used is called linux and acts like a new setup of a software. The people in the digital part had to try and contact different companies and ask for white sand but only a few of them replied but they weren't giving the white sand away for free so a few people were sent to the beach to collect sand for this project and we had to clean it to make sure it was smooth sand so it could be projected onto. We have made tables to hold the sand and a bar above it to hold the kinect sensor and projector. There was only enough sand for 2 groups unfortunately but everyone is able to experience it still. There were problems with the software that we were using so we weren't able to set it up as soon as everything was done.
The good things that happened were the tables were successfully built and we could hang the projector and kinect sensor up without them falling off. We managed to get sand for the project aswell.
The bad things were that we did not have enough sand for every group. We couldnt troubleshoot the problem in time for the presentation day.
